Zed Coston (Fred Monroe Coston, Sr.) was born on July 12, 1915 in Dallas, Texas. After going to high school at Crozier Tech (Dallas, TX), Coston attended Texas Agricultural and Mechanical University. Coston made his professional debut in the NFL in 1939 with the Philadelphia Eagles. He played for the Philadelphia Eagles for his entire 1 year career.
