Willie Shelby (Willie E. Shelby) was born on July 24, 1953 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. After going to high school at Purvis (MS), Shelby attended the University of Alabama. Shelby made his professional debut in the NFL in 1976 with the Cincinnati Bengals. He played for the Cincinnati Bengals and St. Louis Cardinals over the course of his 3 year career.

Most people believe that 1976 was Willie Shelby's best year, as he had 761 kick return yards and ran back a kickoff for a touchdown.
