College football has become enslaved by computer rankings. Anything can alter the BCS rankings, but wins and losses are still a major factor.
In one of the most unpredictable weeks Number 3 Louisville, Number 4 Texas, Number 5 Auburn, and Number 8 California lost.
As the fighting at the top heightens, one fact is true. The loser of today's Ohio State, Michigan showdown is not going to the National Championship Game at the Fiesta Bowl. The winner is in.
USC is the natural inheritor of the other spot to play for the National Championship Game. But, California or UCLA is capable of beating USC, and with USC out of the picture, the rush for the number two spot will be utter chaos.
USC will undoubtedly beat Notre Dame on November 25th.
West Virginia will no doubt beat Rutgers on December 2nd.
That leaves Florida - but what if the Arkansas Razorbacks beat Florida in the SEC Title.
Would anyone in a million years have ever thought that Arkansas would not only have a shot to win the SEC West (and clinching it before meeting LSU), but could also have a legitimate shot at playing in the College Football National Championship Game?
And while deep in the national title race, style points count, so for Arkansas it is not just about beating Mississippi State, Louisiana State University, and the Florida Gators, its about how easily it can be done.
But only if the USC Trojans lose one more game.
Oregon State pulled it off. Why not Cal or UCLA?
