Whitey Wietelmann (William Frederick Wietelmann) was born on March 15, 1919 in Zanesville, Ohio. He made his Major League debut on September 6, 1939 for the Boston Braves. In 1943, his rookie year, he hit .215 with 0 home runs and 39 RBI. Wietelmann played for the Boston Braves and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 9 year career.
