Wendell Tyler (Wendell Avery Tyler) was born on May 20, 1955 in Shreveport, Louisiana. After going to high school at Crenshaw (Los Angeles, CA), Tyler attended the University of California - Los Angeles. Tyler made his professional debut in the NFL in 1977 with the Los Angeles Rams. He played for the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers over the course of his 10 year career.

Most people believe that 1981 was Wendell Tyler's best year, as he ran for 1074 yards, ran in 12 TDs, hauled in 45 receptions and caught 5 TD passes.
