When the Jets head up to Buffalo to play the Bills this week, they will look to play well for both halves, after having staged a valiant comeback attempt last week versus the Patriots that fell just short, losing 24-17. New York will focus on trying to stifle Bills running back Willis McGahee, who has torched the Jets for over 100 yards in each of their last three meetings, and will dare J.P. Losman to beat them through the air. Losman has played well over the last two games, but he must prove that his latest performances have not been merely flashes in the proverbial pan.
Chad Pennington has shocked many a football fan, including a large number of Jets supporters, with his two 300+ yard games to kick off the season. Continuing the streak will be a difficult task against this stingy Buffalo defense, but anything is possible when a quarterback has playmaking wide receivers, examples being Jerricho Cotchery and Laveranues Coles, both of whom exploded for ridiculous touchdown receptions last week. The Jets need to find a way to establish some semblance of a consistent run game. Whether it be inconsistencies in the offensive line, lack of talent in the running back department, or both, improvement needs to be shown.
This game will be a classic AFC East struggle, with points coming at a premium. The odds makers have the Bills favored by six, but I see this game being decided by three points or less. So our prediction is this: Jets 17, Bills 14.
