Born on March 15, 1944 in Springfield, Massachusetts, Wayne Granger (Wayne Allan Granger) played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Cincinnati Reds, Minnesota Twins, New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox, Houston Astros and Montreal Expos over the course of his 9 year career. Granger broke into the bigs on June 5, 1968 with the St. Louis Cardinals, and put up a 2.80 ERA in 144.2 innings pitched in 1969, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Wayne Granger's best season was 1969, when he posted a 2.80 ERA, notched 27 saves and struck out 68 batters.
