Walter Abercrombie (Walter Augustus Abercrombie) was born on September 26, 1959 in Waco, Texas. After going to high school at University (Waco, TX), Abercrombie attended Baylor University. Abercrombie made his professional debut in the NFL in 1982 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Eagles over the course of his 7 year career.
His best year was 1986, when he had 214 carries for 877 yards and 47 receptions for 395 yards. His eight total touchdowns that year were one less than his personal best total of nine from the year before.
