Born on June 20, 1929 in Blairs, Virginia, Wally Burnette (Wallace Harper Burnette) played for the Kansas City Athletics for his entire 3 year career. Burnette broke into the bigs on July 15, 1956 with the Kansas City Athletics, and put up a 2.89 ERA in 121.1 innings pitched in 1956, his rookie year.
