Walking again: Kevin Everett Update

I will be honest, I kind of forgot about Mr. Kevin Everett for a moment and it also seems the rest of you forgot because two days ago I read an article on Everett and I was so suprised to see the great news and the great progress he has made.  So I awaited for someone with great writing skills to write about him here in the ArmChairGm community, I didn't want to be the one to butcher it, but I guess it has come to this.  Now if you read that article above it give you great detail on what happened and a great look on how things are. I guess I will attempt to match its great authenticy.

As we all know, unless you have been living in a cave, that around three months ago Buffalo Bills tight end Kevin Everett was on the kickoff team for the Bills and he had gotten to the Broncos kick returner, Domenik Hixon, untouched.  He got into his tackling stance as he was taught, low to the ground, and delievered a hit to Hixon in return lowered his helmet to try and run over Everett.  The crown of Everett's helmet hit the side of Hixon's and BOOM! Everett was motionless face down on the ground.  This hit resulted in a spinal injury for Bills rising tight end Kevin Everett.

After thirteen minutes of lying on the field and having spinal injury specialist Doctor Cappuccino poking and squezzing various parts of Everett's body, he was taken away in an ambulance.  They took Everett to Millard Fillmore Gates Circle Hospital, finally arriving some thirty-five minutes after the hit.  He had gone through twenty-three hours of surgery, in which Cappuccino had performed an operation that had never been done on a patient with a spinal injury, a decision which ended up saving Everett's mobility.  Everyone remebers when Cappuccino had his doubts, saying that Everett would mostly likely not walk?  Well, Cappucino had hopes in this opperation and it ended up making him an unkown hero in the Everett family.

Only three months later, after many people thought he would never walk again, Everett is walking in his house and out in the community.  Even though he is walking at a very steady pace at the moment, he is still walking, which is a lot better that what people and doctors thought before.  He is also performing reaction and other various workouts.  I think I speak for not only myself, the armchairgm community, but for the nation when I say we hope for the best for Everett and hope his journey continues to improve and become a great story, especially for a guy who doesn't ask, "Why me?", but a guy who takes his hits and road bumbps in stride with no complaints and has also had offers to coach high school teams.

Nice article. And I look forward to seeing Everett walk down the tunnel to greet Buffalo fans in the near future.
