Vinny Castilla (Vinicio (Soria) Castilla) was born on July 4, 1967 in Oaxaca, Oaxaca (Mexico). He made his Major League debut on September 1, 1991 for the Atlanta Braves. In 1993, his rookie year, he hit .255 with 9 home runs and 30 RBI. Castilla played for the Atlanta Braves, Colorado Rockies, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Houston Astros, Washington Nationals and San Diego Padres over the course of his 16 year career.

Most people believe that Vinny Castilla's best season was 1998, when he slugged 46 home runs, hit for a .319 average and knocked in 144 runs.
