Born on December 24, 1957 in Rancho Viejo, La Vega (Dominican Republic), Victor Cruz (Victor Manuel Cruz) played for the Toronto Blue Jays, Cleveland Indians, Pittsburgh Pirates and Texas Rangers over the course of his 5 year career. Cruz broke into the bigs on June 24, 1978 with the Toronto Blue Jays, and put up a 4.23 ERA in 78.2 innings pitched in 1979, his rookie year.
Most people believe that Victor Cruz's best season was 1980, when he posted a 3.45 ERA, notched 12 saves and struck out 88 batters.
