Vick Plays, Pacman Doesn't, No Surprise!

It's been a long time since I have written on here but the situation with Vick merited some print.

Adam "Pacman" Jones, albeit has been arrested many times, as of April was not convicted of a crime.  He was suspended for the entire 2007 season.

Michael Vick, "star" quarterback of the Atlanta Falcons, under a federal indictment that carries up to 6 years of prison, is allowed to continue to play?  What do we think the reason is.  Heck we know what the reason is.  M-O-N-E-Y.

It's what makes the world, and especially the world of sports, go around.  Nobody outside of Tennessee knows anything about Pacman Jones, so we can't have him on the field tainting the great game of football.  But Michael Vick, jersey sales, covers of video games, highlight reels, all of the things he is.  Now when he gets in trouble, we "let the legal system take it's course".

I love the game of football, but isn't it amazing that the more money you make for the league, all of a sudden the "legal system can run it's course"?  I guess the legal system doesn't work for little known players like Pacman Jones.  It just isn't right.

Even the NFL's legal system takes some time...Vick will be suspended, there is little doubt in my mind...but even Goodell won't make this much of knee-jerk reaction...

Pacman Jones is little known? Not to just about every cop in the country.

THERE ARE 10 SEPARATE LEGAL INCIDENTS INVOLVING JONES.

10!

Vick may have spread herpes, and left some weed in his water bottle, but the giant canine atrocity is the first indictment for the man. Never been on probation. Is it horrible? Yes. Is it completely different? Absolutely.

Yeah, i've started to come around to Josh's point...a major chunk of why pacman was suspended had to do with multiple incidents...even if you remove the ones from college...that's still 6 or 7 while he was in the pros...

I'm still fairly confident that Vick should be punished by the NFL, not because I think the NFL should punish anyone, but because, if they choose to, they need to be consistant. In this case, this type of federal crime is, for lack of a better comparison, similar to Jamel Lewis, however lewis's suspension was a result of "violating" the NFL drug policy...

For Vick, 4 games seems to be the minimum...

Jamal Lewis, and Ray Lewis for that matter too. Vick is gonna get his, and I'm guessing he gets a full year or more because, unless I'm mistaken, there's gambling involved in dog fights, and gambling is bad. Let this run its course and then crucify him once he's convicted. Another angle. The Union and arbitrators are going to be a lot less inclined towards Vick's side if he's already been convicted.

Sure Roger Goodell will suspend Michael Vick when Arthur Blank tells him to do so. Now here is the million dollar question to the thinkers and researchers of this website - If a player is suspended by the commissioner, does that lost salary go against a team's cap? Preliminary results on my end indicate that IT DOES NOT. Interesting twist huh?

and insanely importantly to the falcons...especially around march of next year.

If there was any comparison between the two situations, you'd have a point. But there isn't any valid comparison so busting the commissioners chops on this one is incorrect.

I think even Goodell said it was going to be done on a case by case basis...anyone else?

Plus, Pacman could have charges reinstated in Tennessee depending on what happens in Vegas. Now, I think Vick should be and will be suspended, but there are many more issues in this case. For one, Vick apparently disputes even being present at these alleged dog fights, whereas Pacman admits to being in these nightclubs.
