Triple-A

[edit] About Triple-A (AAA) Baseball
Triple A is the top tier of Minor League Baseball (MiLB). While not all players land in one of the three leagues in the AAA class of baseball, most of the players in reserve and the players honing major league skills wind up here for a time.
[edit] Level of Play
The level of play, particularly in the post-free agency period, with lots of players in reserve stuck under the [green cap] behind superstars with big salaries, is very high.
[edit] Old School Baseball
Beyond the talent level, a lot of the game that has withered away because of safety concerns for the multi-million dollar babies on the field don't exist in Triple-A. Pitchers pitch more complete games, players steal home and play generally more aggressively throughout the whole season than do their major league peers. For them, there is no tomorrow unless they play at 110%. This is good news for the fans, who get a high quality game more often. If you love the sport, not the celebrity of the sport, then Triple-A games are going to satisfy your soul.
[edit] Leagues
The Triple-A is composed of three leagues:
The International League covers from Canada to Georgia on the Eastern side of the country.
The Pacific Coast League covers the western states and was, at one time immediately following WWII, so well followed that it tried to become the third major league.
La Liga Mexicana, the Mexican League, is given Triple-A status at MiLB even though it does not have any of its players on a one-to-one contract with clubs in Major League Baseball MLB.
