After the LastRow's Top 20 Games Worth Watching, I felt there were a lot of games left off the list that could've been on it, moreso for their importance in the season than for their tradition like the Iron Bowl or Michigan vs. Ohio State. After all, there always seems to be a game or two that ends up ruining some of the importance of those games. So here's a list of games that you probably won't watch, but might prove to be just as important as the ones you probably will.
Miami (FL) at Louisville, Sept. 16 -- Everyone seems to be looking forward to the Louisville-West Virginia match that will most likely decide the Big East. But how about this early season non-conference game that could put a thorn in the title hopes of the Big East teams.
Oklahoma at Oregon, Sept. 16 -- Another huge early season non-conference game that nobody is talking about. Now that the Pac-10 is finally up for grabs, the non-conference games become that much more important. But with the power still left in the conference, this game may mean more to Oklahoma than Oregon. A stumble by the Sooners in this game could disrupt their national title chances.
Wisconsin at Michigan, Sept. 23 -- While the Wolverines' game the previous week against Notre Dame will no doubt gain more press coverage, this game may prove to be more valuable. The Badgers have never had much luck going into the Big House, but with a win last year at home over the Wolverines, the Badgers have confidence on their side. The Badgers also get back plenty of help on defense, from eligibility and those returning from injury. An upset here could make that Ohio State-Michigan game on Nov. 18 a little less important.
Ohio State at Iowa, Sept. 30 -- Likewise with this game. Kinnick Stadium may be the toughest place in the Big Ten to travel to, and if Ohio State isn't careful, they could have their Big Ten championship and national title hopes dashed in an instant against an always underrated Iowa team.
Texas Tech at UTEP, Sept. 9, and at TCU, Sept. 16 -- You may ask what two Texas Tech games are doing on the list, but, all due respect, it's actually more for the other teams than the Red Raiders. UTEP and TCU are the two top mid-majors heading into the season, and a win for each of them over a Texas Tech team coming off a 9-3 season could mean an undefeated season for both of them and yet another wrench in the BCS.
South Carolina's entire SEC schedule -- Of the SEC powerhouses, South Carolina has to face just one (Florida on Nov. 11) on the road. That means Georgia, Auburn, and Tennessee all have to travel to Columbia to face the Ol' Ball Coach. I don't think the Gamecocks has the power to win the SEC, but it certainly has the strength to stop one of those three teams from winning it.
Florida State at N.C. State, Oct. 5 -- The Seminoles, with the exception of their season opener at Miami, have the majority of their big games at home. That includes Boston College and Florida. In fact, FSU only has four away games all season. If the Seminoles reach this game undefeated, the Wolfpack could change that in a hurry. The pack went into Tallahassee last year and came out with a 20-15 win, and always seem to come through when the Seminoles need them the least.
