Tony Fernandez (Octavio Antonio (Castro) Fernandez) was born on June 30, 1962 in San Pedro de Macoris, Macoris (Dominican Republic). He made his Major League debut on September 2, 1983 for the Toronto Blue Jays. In 1984, his rookie year, he hit .270 with 3 home runs and 19 RBI. Fernandez played for the Toronto Blue Jays, San Diego Padres, New York Mets, Cincinnati Reds, New York Yankees, Cleveland Indians and Milwaukee Brewers over the course of his 17 year career.

Most people believe that Tony Fernandez's best season was 1986, when he stole 25 bases, hit for a .310 average and knocked in 65 runs.
