Tommy Whelan (Thomas Joseph Whelan) was born on March 4, 1911 in New York, New York. Whelan attended Catholic College. Whelan made his professional debut in the NFL in 1933 with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He played for the Pittsburgh Pirates for his entire 1 year career.
