Born on May 22, 1943 in Terre Haute, Indiana, Tommy John (Thomas Edward John) played for the Cleveland Indians, Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, California Angels and Oakland Athletics over the course of his 26 year career. John broke into the bigs on September 6, 1963 with the Cleveland Indians, and put up a 3.91 ERA in 94.1 innings pitched in 1964, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Tommy John's best season was 1977, when he posted a 2.78 ERA, won 20 games and struck out 123 batters.
