Tommie Smiley (Tommie B. Smiley) was born on February 18, 1944 in Port Arthur, Texas. After going to high school at Port Arthur (TX), Smiley attended Lamar University and the University of Arizona. Smiley made his professional debut in the AFL in 1968 with the Cincinnati Bengals. He played in the AFL for 2 years, playing for the Denver Broncos and Cincinnati Bengals over the course of his 2 year AFL career.Smiley also played in the NFL for 1 year, playing for the Houston Oilers the entire time.

Most people believe that 1969 was Tommie Smiley's best year.
