Tom Winsett (John Thomas Winsett) was born on November 24, 1909 in McKenzie, Tennessee. He made his Major League debut on April 20, 1930 for the Boston Red Sox. In 1937, his rookie year, he hit .237 with 5 home runs and 42 RBI. Winsett played for the Boston Red Sox, St. Louis Cardinals and Brooklyn Dodgers over the course of his 6 year career.
