Tom Thayer (Thomas Allen Thayer) was born on August 16, 1961 in Joliet, Illinois. After going to high school at Catholic (Joliet, IL), Thayer attended the University of Notre Dame. Thayer made his professional debut in the NFL in 1985 with the Chicago Bears. He played for the Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins over the course of his 9 year career.
