Born on August 30, 1887 in Blair, Nebraska, Tom Seaton (Thomas Gordon Seaton) played for the Philadelphia Phillies, Brooklyn Tip-Tops, Newark Peppers and Chicago Cubs over the course of his 6 year career. Seaton broke into the bigs on April 13, 1912 with the Philadelphia Phillies, and put up a 3.28 ERA in 255 innings pitched in 1912, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Tom Seaton's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1913, when he posted a 2.60 ERA, won 27 games and struck out 168 batters. However, others believe that it was 1914, when he posted a 3.03 ERA, won 25 games and struck out 172 batters.
