Tom Poorman (Thomas Iverson Poorman) was born on October 14, 1857 in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. He made his Major League debut on May 5, 1880 for the Chicago White Stockings. In 1884, his rookie year, he hit .233 with 0 home runs and 0 RBI. Poorman played for the Chicago White Stockings, Buffalo Bisons, Toledo Blue Stockings, Boston Beaneaters and Philadelphia Athletics over the course of his 6 year career.

Most people believe that Tom Poorman's best season was 1887, when he stole 88 bases and knocked in 61 runs.
