Born on February 22, 1948 in Los Angeles, California, Tom Griffin (Thomas James Griffin) played for the Houston Astros, San Diego Padres, California Angels, San Francisco Giants and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 14 year career. Griffin broke into the bigs on April 10, 1969 with the Houston Astros, and put up a 3.54 ERA in 188.1 innings pitched in 1969, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Tom Griffin's best season was 1969, when he posted a 3.54 ERA, won 11 games and struck out 200 batters.
