Tom Fears (Thomas Jesse Fears) was born on December 3, 1923 in Los Angeles, California. After going to high school at Manual Arts (Los Angeles, CA), Fears attended Santa Clara University and the University of California - Los Angeles. Fears made his professional debut in the NFL in 1948 with the Los Angeles Rams. He played for the Los Angeles Rams for his entire 9 year career.

Most people believe that 1949 was Tom Fears's best year, as he hauled in 77 receptions, had 1013 receiving yards and caught 9 TD passes.
