Today: The Worst Sports Day

Why, you ask? Let me count the ways.
The Nothing is Happening Category
-the All-Star Game was yesterday
-James Blake is being interviewed on PTI
-there are no events in at least the top eight sports (is minor league baseball the most major event of the day/night?)
-Another World Cup coach resigns? Really?
-Aubrey Huff is traded to the Houston Astros and ESPN.com announces that the dealing begins. I suppose they chose to ignore the other equally minor trades that have already happened. Stop trying to stir something up!
The Sad Category
-After making a miraculous recovery, Barbaro is not only back in the headlines, but his condition has worsened.
-The Tour de France is missing Lance Armstrong, Ivan Basso, and the other top 20 favorites. It's not too long before my avid cyclist brother gets added as a replacement.
-There are about two more big Barry Bonds headlines today.
The Maddening Category
-Is there anything right about the All-Star Game? So Bud Selig complains about Manny Ramirez. But everyone on Armchair and all over the world hates that it decides World Series home-field advantage, hates that Mark Redman gets to play (no other All-Star game has that stipulation), and hates that he ruined the game with a tie. Nothing happens. Nothing. Nothing. Each time I write that word I get more angry and feel more helpless.
-Sports commentators are informing less and less and flopping in their attempts to entertain more and more. Don't tell stupid jokes. Just analyze what happened with your inside perspective.
-Bill Simmons' most recent chat is on Insider, yet the editors tempt poor students like me by teasing it on the front page.
I believe that qualifies today as an awful sports day. No real sports, no fantasy sports, media members try to create news out of nothing, and someone felt compelled to report on an 83-year old guy who struck out in one minor league at-bat.
