To All of the Pennington Doubters, "How about that?"

I wrote an article earlier this year defending Chad Pennington. I said how as long as he was healthy, he gives the team the best chance to win now. I received a lot of comments about the arm being suspect even when healthy, which most people in the media agreed with.

Well, he was back as the Jets starter yesterday. He made crisp, sound decisions, all game long. His passes were accurate, well placed, and strong. He went down the field on more than one occasion, hitting his man with the arm strength that no one believed he had. And I know it is only one game, but for returning after 2 reconstructive shoulder surgeries, hows about 24-33 passing for 319 yards and 2 scores? To do that on the road in the NFL, no matter who you are, is a great day. But to do it off the injuries he has had?

Chad is back, and will put the Jets in the opportunity to win, every chance he gets.

Its 1 game, calm down there cowboy. Pennington looked good on Sunday, but its a long season, and if he takes another hit like the one when he coughed up that fumble and he will be back to his old ways.

Yes, He is AWESOME!! I have to say, he made a BELIEVER out of me!!! Arm strength, durability, accuracy!!! Dude has the entire package!!! I can only think of 18, maybe 22 other quarterbacks in the league I would rather have!!! With a healthy Chad at the helm the Jets may win 3, even 4 more games this season!!!

Note: I am being a certain % serious (zero IS a percent)

Joke if you will, the guy did lead all passers on Sunday. I did acknowledge the fact that it is one game, but passing for 300+ yards on the road in the NFL is still passing for 300 + yards on the road in the NFL

Do you REALLY want a guy with a reconstructed shoulder throwing THAT much? His arm is going to fly off at the socket!@!! I'm sure NO ONE will throw for 300+ against the Titans again this year...

if pennington can revert back to 2002 form, then they'll look like geniuses for passing on leinart and taking "da brick".

Totally agree. The o-line pass protected for him quite well, which helps the cause as well.

I don't think anyone doubts Pennington when he's healthy. It's the "when he's healthy" part that's a problem. Saying Pennington is great when he's healthy is about like saying Terrell Owens is a great teammate when he's not acting like a total jerk.

I wish you were right, but people do doubt him when he is healthy. People say that he wasn't strong enough to begin with, and talk about 2002 like it was the fluke. That's why I think I defend him in this way.
