[edit] Biography

Tim Laker (Timothy John Laker) was born on November 27, 1969 in Encino, California. He made his Major League debut on August 18, 1992 for the Montreal Expos. In 1995, his rookie year, he hit .234 with 3 home runs and 20 RBI. Laker played for the Montreal Expos, Baltimore Orioles, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Pittsburgh Pirates and Cleveland Indians over the course of his 11 year career.

Laker was also one of the players named in baseball's Mitchell Report. Laker was one of the few players to meet with investigators for the Mitchell Report, as his job as manager of an Indians farm team required it. Laker procured steroids from former Mets clubhouse attendant Kirk Radomski, whom he met in 1995 through then-teammate David Segui. Laker admitted to 4 occasions when he purchased steroids (specifically Deca-Durabolin and testosterone) from Radomski, claiming that he became convinced that steroids would "enhance [his] performance."

Laker said that he never discussed his steroid use with any of his team's coaches or management personnel. According to Laker, however, an Expos trainer did mention that Laker's physique suggested that he was taking steroids.
