Tiger wins British Open

by user DRE-LO

Tiger Woods notches his 11th major shooting a final round score of 67 and going 18 under par overall. He hit his stride by notching birdies in the 14th, 15th and 16th hole. Once he did that, you could pretty much engrave his name on the British Open Trophy. After the short putt on the 18th hole, Tiger's emotions in which he had in check all week long came out. He broke down while hugging his caddie and then even more when he hugged his wife. Of course, this is his first major victory without his father and mentor Earl Woods by his side. It's official: Tiger is back.

As if he ever left.

Tiger showed a tremendous amount of poise coming down the back 9 of the Open. Its good to see he has regained his swagger after a difficult start to the year.

I was on the brink of tears watching his emotions come out.

Being some one who has lost a parent it was emotional to watch not only Tiger but DiMarco (sp) coming down the back 9 with so much emotional baggage in tow. One of those great moments that bring sports and drama together, and gives everyone who watches the opportunity to feel what the greats feel.

Yeah, Tiger keeps continuing to bridge the gap between himself and Jack Nicklaus. Tiger is now tied with Walter Hagan at 11 major championship wins and is now 7 away from Jack. To put this in historical perspective, Jack Nicklaus won his 11th major at the age of 32. Tiger is 30.

Been an All-American Sunday across the pond. First, Flyod Landis wins the Tour De France. Then Tiger Woods won the British Open!

Tiger played the perfect round. No risks, and perfect execution. Shame no Europeans were anywhere near him. Still, us Brits were too busy losing to Israel in the Davis Cup...

tiger was brilliant. my father has alzheimer's and even though he's alive, he's not really here anymore and it is something you kinda carry around all of the time. i teared up watching him. you know, guys rarely let their emotions show so that made the moment that much more special.
