Born on June 18, 1961 in Lundstahl, West Germany, Tom McCarthy (Thomas Michael McCarthy) played for the Boston Red Sox and Chicago White Sox over the course of his 3 year career. McCarthy broke into the bigs on July 5, 1985 with the Boston Red Sox, and put up a 3.51 ERA in 66.2 innings pitched in 1989, his rookie year.
