The Durham Revival

We all know about the Duke Lacrosse rape case. Several things have happened in the past few months, all of which have made today such a glorious day.

First, the DA of Durham, NC; Mike Nyfong, has several pending charges by the North Carolina Bar Association (they are in charge of issuing liscenses for lawyers in the state), and he will likely have his liscence revoked for his blatant mishandling and misconstruing of evidence to support his case.

Next, the dancer agreed to drop the rape charges against the players. All that remain are kidnapping charges, which are likely not to get anywhere due to her telling several different accounts of the incident, and no one knowing what to believe.

And, finally, comes the big day. Duke Lacrosse played their first game in 11 months today, beating Dartmouth 17-11. Congradulations goes to the players, and I hope that this case ends in misery for the dancer, and Nyfong loses his liscence and job.

The dropping of the rape charge but the inclusion of kidnapping charge is actually a bad, bad thing for the Duke kids, because it means that the DA now has no obligation to introduce evidence regarding the rape. The rape "evidence" shows that the complaining witness (the dancer) has waffled on her story; that there's a lot of doubt as to what happened; etc. None of that will be before the jury now -- and that's bad news for the defense.

no, the kidnapping charge was all ready presented. There is nothing she has to present any more. The dancer has nothing to prove her case with. There is going to be a new DA soon, and then it will be his turn. The charges by the bar association is what gives me the conclusion. The only reason such claims would be brought is if in a case (this one), he manipulated evidence in order to prove a point he couldn't make. That leads me to believe that they don't have anything to use. Besides, it can't be easy for her to prove she was involuntarily taken across the place. Also, the players and their lawyers have been using tactics that would only be used if they knew they were innocent. It has been speculated that the final charges might be dropped altogether
