TPSRadio News
Big news as TPSRadio and ArmchairGM team up to offer great sports blogs and interviews to TPSRadio listeners. I’ve read quite a few of the sports blogs at ArmchairGM and there are some great opinions! Let’s hope the partnership is and happy one, TPSRadio is really hyping the writers and I hope our exposure on ArmchairGM continues to grow at the same pace.
MMA and Hockey on TPSRadio
A great debut by Punishment Radio, TPSRadio’s new MMA show brought to you by Alex and Adam Martin! I’m a HUGE MMA fan and have been trying to get a show going for some time. And Adam and Alex are the perfect fit! Check them out every Wednesday at 10p EST.
Around the Boards is planning it’s launch this Monday at 10p EST! We’ve heard the call from the fans! Dave Olesky is the host, and he knows his hockey! Check out the live show this Monday!
MLB
We’ll, it’s finally over. Bonds has the record, Hank Aaron showed class with his video and Barry wasn’t an ass. I think everything (aside from Selig not being there) was handled right. Barry “acted” humble (I put in quotations because we all know he’s not) and that was refreshing. That being said, I’m sad that Aaron isn’t the official home run king. But he’ll always be the king to me.
Matt Murphy catches the ball, but even if he doesn’t sell it he could get hit with a 35% tax rate? Anywhere from $210,000 and $600,000! That just seems wrong. But he now has his place in baseball history.
Bob Costas weighed in on the post-record breaking HR by stating : "I would say that Barry Bonds was, on his natural merits, one of the five or six greatest all-around players in baseball history," Costas said Wednesday on FOX GameTime Live. "Then something highly questionable and inauthentic happened in the late 90s and at the turn of the century, which took him from a first-rate, tremendous, Hall of Fame player to a nearly superhuman player. Therefore his late career performances and the records, not just the HR record, but some of the single season records, including slugging, on-base percentage, and others, cannot be viewed as authentic."
Strong words that I happen to agree with….
NFL
I’m not a big Michael Irvin fan, but even I was touched by his Hall of Fame speech. The guy spent 12 seasons, held the record for 11 100 yard games and won 3 Super Bowls with the Dallas Cowboys. You may not like the guy, but he deserves to be in the Hall. No doubt.
Pacman Jones in TNA. Hey he’s “only” been arrested 2 times! He made that comment with ESPN as he was pushing his upcoming wrestling stint. Hey Pacman, little reality check here….that’s 2 times too many.
If you’re the Oakland Raiders, I’m getting pissed about Russell not being signed yet. Looks like Daunte Culpepper will most likely win the job. Which may not be that bad a thing. If/when JaMarcus Russell gets in camp he’s almost guaranteed to now start til the mid/end of the season. Let’s see if Culpepper can hold the fort, because we all know he’ll be gone next season.
MMA
Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Randy Couture is sure to be a great fight. Their style’s are so similar that I see it going back and forth. My heart is behind Randy Couture, but my brain says that Gonzaga is HUNGRY and will win. That being said, “The Natural” is a legend. He’ll treat a victory, or loss, the right way. Which is refreshing, especially after watching Josh Koscheck dance around and claim that he kicked Diego Sanchez’s ass after his victory. That fight was anything BUT an ass-whoopin’. But in Kos’s mind, it was a dominating victory. I really hope Georges St. Pierre cleans his clock….I’m just sayin….
