Swede Hummel (Arthur Joseph Hummel) was born on May 30, 1902 in Belleville, Illinois. Hummel attended Lombard College. Hummel made his professional debut in the NFL in 1926 with the Providence Steam Roller. He played for the Providence Steam Roller for his entire 1 year career.
