Born on March 5, 1961 in Tularosa, New Mexico, Steve Ontiveros (Steven Ontiveros) played for the Oakland Athletics, Philadelphia Phillies, Seattle Mariners and Boston Red Sox over the course of his 10 year career. Ontiveros broke into the bigs on June 14, 1985 with the Oakland Athletics, and put up a 1.93 ERA in 74.2 innings pitched in 1985, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Steve Ontiveros's best season was 1987, when he posted a 4.00 ERA, won 10 games and struck out 97 batters.
