Born on April 18, 1942 in Canaan, Connecticut, Steve Blass (Stephen Robert Blass) played for the Pittsburgh Pirates for his entire 10 year career. Blass broke into the bigs on May 10, 1964 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and put up a 4.04 ERA in 104.2 innings pitched in 1964, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Steve Blass's best season was 1968, when he posted a 2.12 ERA, won 18 games and struck out 132 batters.
