Spergon Wynn (Spergon Wynn) was born on August 10, 1978 in Houston, Texas. After going to high school at Episcopal (Bellaire, TX), Wynn attended Southwest Texas State University and the University of Minnesota. Wynn made his professional debut in the NFL in 2000 with the Cleveland Browns. He played for the Minnesota Vikings and Cleveland Browns over the course of his 2 year career.


Acquired

Traded to Toronto from Winnipeg in exchange for a 2nd Round draft pick in the 2006 Canadian Draft and DB Mike Crumb on February 21, 2006.

2005

Traded to Winnipeg from BC in exchange for a pick in the 2006 Canadian Draft on April 13…Dressed for three regular season games…Did not see any game action…Missed most of the season due to a knee injury…Participated in the first annual Damon Allen QB Challenge and won the competition.

2004

Played in 15 games for the British Columbia Lions…Threw for 268 yards on 21 completions.

2003

Dressed for all 18 regular season games for the Lions, playing in eight and starting one…Finished the regular season completing 46 of 85 passes for 626 yards and four touchdowns…Started the East Division Semi-Final against Toronto at Rogers Centre, thrust into action just prior to game time when Dave Dickenson fell to injury.

2002 Appeared on the Minnesota Vikings (NFL) roster but didn’t see any game action…Released on August 14.

2001

Traded, along with RB Travis Prentice to Minnesota from Cleveland on September 3, in exchange for NFL draft picks in 2002 and 2003…Started two games for the Minnesota Vikings including a 24-of-39 passing effort against the Green Bay Packers that saw him toss a 47-yard TD pass to TE Byron Chamberlain…Played earlier in the year for the Amsterdam Admirals of NFL Europe…Completed a league-high 193 passes on 337 attempts for 2,041 yards and 14 TDs and rushed for 110 yards.

2000

Selected in the 6th Round of the NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns…Appeared in seven games for the Browns, including one start, and completed 22 of 55 passes for 167 yards and one interception.

College

Played just two seasons at Southwest Texas (1998 and 1999) and ranks sixth on the school’s career-record list with 3,497 yards passing…

  • 1999 Named All-Southland Football League second-team choice after completing 161 of 323 passes for 1,646 yards and 14 touchdowns...
  • 1998 Passed for 1,851 yards and 10 touchdowns with the Bobcats.
