Sonny Winters (Lingel A. Winters) was born on June 2, 1900 in Napoleon, Ohio. After going to high school at V.W. Scott (Toledo, OH), Winters attended Ohio Wesleyan University. Winters made his professional debut in the NFL in 1923 with the Columbus Tigers. He played for the Columbus Tigers for his entire 2 year career.
