Born on December 11, 1896 in Brownwood, Texas, Slim Harriss (William Jennings Bryan Harriss) played for the Philadelphia Athletics and Boston Red Sox over the course of his 9 year career. Harriss broke into the bigs on April 19, 1920 with the Philadelphia Athletics, and put up a 4.08 ERA in 192 innings pitched in 1920, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Slim Harriss's best season was 1925, when he posted a 3.49 ERA, won 19 games and struck out 95 batters.
