Skip Vanderbundt (William Gerard Vanderbundt) was born on December 4, 1946 in Martinez, California. After going to high school at El Dorado (Placerville, CA), Vanderbundt attended Oregon State University. Vanderbundt made his professional debut in the NFL in 1969 with the San Francisco 49ers. He played for the San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints over the course of his 10 year career.

Most people believe that 1972 was Skip Vanderbundt's best year, as he ran back 2 interceptions for touchdowns, recovered 3 opponents fumbles and ran back a fumble for a touchdown.
