Significance January 14th, 2001 Giants 41 Vikings 0

Vikings Record Since That Date (Before Sunday): 47-59 (1 Playoff Wins) Vikings Record Before That Date (7 Seasons): 72-40 (4 Playoff Wins)

November 25th, 2007 Vikings 41 Giants 17

After the game Vikings coach Brad Childress was quotes as saying, “We are now significant.” This game could be the new beginning the Vikings have been looking for.

While researching this I did fail to remember the Vikings were 9-7, 8-8 and then 9-7 in Mike Tice’s last 3 years, and that we could’ve probably kept improving under him. But, Wilf went a different way. He fired Tice (immediately after the 9th win of the year), and hired Brad Childress. He felt so sly hiring Childress, by not letting him travel to Green Bay (where they are now 10-1 under Mike McCarthy).

The Vikings went through a year of bad football. But really, they have been cursed since that 2001 NFC Championship Game. -How can you forget Paul Allen’s call of Arizona’s desperation Touchdown “NO!!!!!” that kicked the Vikings out of the 2003 Playoffs? -Who can forget that we started that same season 6-0, and finished 3-7? -Who can forget the 2004 team that started 5-1, and then needed another team to lose in order to make the playoffs at 8-8 (a game that Moss walked off the field for).

-Who can forget Koren Robinson being arrested and suspended by the NFL for driving without a license? The Love-Boat Scandal? The Draft Snafu of Kevin Williams?

I know that this is only one game. But if all we needed was the good karma of scoring 41 points in New York to turn things around, why didn’t we do that a few years ago? Hopefully the Vikings will turn things around. Remember…we are now SIGNIGICANT

Welcome to the NFC, where everyone is significant!

The division leaders have seperated themselves; Dallas has a 3 game lead, Green Bay has 4, and Tampa and Seattle have 2 games...

Then it gets messy: Currently the Giants have a 2 game lead for the 5th WC spot while the Lions are 1 game in front of the following 5-6 teams - Philly, Washington, Chicago, Minnesota, New Orleans, and Arizona...thats 6 teams!! And Detroit has lost to Philly, Washington and the Giants but Swept Chicago...

lest we forget detroit must play the vikings, Cowboys, Chargers, Chiefs and Packers...all of which will want a win except GB, who may have everything wrapped up by then...
