Shannon Garrett
[edit] BiographyAcquired: Re-signed with Edmonton as a free agent in March 2006. Originally signed as a free agent with Edmonton on September 5, 2000. College/Personal: Shannon was a four-year starter at Mississippi College and was nominated as an All-American, All-GSC and ALL-GSC Academic. Garrett manages a bank in Mississippi in the off-season. Pro: Shannon began his CFL career with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 1995 and went on to play three seasons with the Blue Bombers. In 1998, he moved to the Saskatchewan Roughriders and spent two season in Regina. In 2000 Shannon was released by the New Orleans Saints following training camp and joined the Eskimos on September 5, making his debut on Labour Day. In 2001 he finished 2nd on the Eskimos with four interceptions, including a 44 -yard TD return. In 2002 he had four interceptions, including a 65 yard TD return.
2004(Edmonton) Appeared in all 18 games recording 48 defensive tackles, 1 special teams tackle, 5 pass knockdowns, 3 interceptions and a forced fumble. Named a CFL West All-Star for the second time in his career. CFL West Final: 2 defensive tackles and 1 pass knockdown. Grey Cup: 4 defensive tackles and 1 special teams tackle. 2003: (Edmonton) Appeared in all 18 games recording 48 defensive tackles, 1 special teams tackle, 5 pass knockdowns, 3 interceptions and a forced fumble. Named a CFL West All-Star for the second time in his career. CFL West Final: 2 defensive tackles and 1 pass knockdown. Grey Cup: 4 defensive tackles and 1 special teams tackle. 2002: (Edmonton) 23 defensive tackles, 4 INTs , including a 65 yard TD return (July 13 vs. Toronto - quarterback Michael Bishop). 2001: (Edmonton) Named a CFL West Division All-Star for the first time in his career. In 18 regular season games, Garrett recorded a personal best 54 defensive tackles, 11 STTs, 6 knockdowns, 3 tackles for losses and 1 sack. Finished second on the Eskimos with four INTs, including a 44 yd TD return Suffered a knee injury Week #18 vs. Montreal and did not play in the CFL West Final. 2000: (Edmonton) Released by New Orleans Saints following training camp. Recorded four defensive tackles in CFL West Division Semi-Final. 1999: (Saskatchewan Roughriders) 48 defensive tackles, 7 STTs, 3 INTs, 9 pass knockdowns. 1998: (Saskatchewan) 61 defensive tackles, 11 STTs and 1 INT in 18 games. 1997: (Winnipeg Blue Bombers) 43 defensive tackles and 3 STTs, one sack, 4 INTs - second best on the team, 2 fumble recoveries and 5 pass knockdowns in 16 regular season games. 1996: (Winnipeg) 32 defensive tackles, 10 STTs, 2 INTs for 128 yards, including a 102 yard return for a touchdown (vs. Montreal Nov 1/96). 1995: (Winnipeg) 51 defensive tackles, 4STTs, 4 INTs, 2 pass knockdowns and 1 fumble recovery. Returned 5 kicks for 101 yards.
