For the second time in his career, Boston Red Sox ace Roger Clemens strikes out 20 batters in a game. This time, his victims are the hapless players of the Detroit Tigers.

Carlton Fisk made his MLB debut for the Boston Red Sox. He hit 8th, started at catcher, and went 0-4 in a 6-4 loss to the Baltimore Orioles

Don Baylor makes his Major League debut for the Baltimore Orioles against the Cleveland Indians. He recorded two hits and 3 RBI.
