Scoops Carey (George C. Carey) was born on December 4, 1870 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He made his Major League debut on April 26, 1895 for the Baltimore Orioles. In 1895, his rookie year, he hit .261 with 1 home run and 75 RBI. Carey played for the Baltimore Orioles, Louisville Colonels and Washington Senators over the course of his 4 year career.

Most people believe that Scoops Carey's best season was 1902, when he hit for a .314 average and knocked in 60 runs.
