Sandy Griffin (Tobias Charles Griffin) was born on October 24, 1858 in Fayetteville, New York. He made his Major League debut on May 26, 1884 for the New York Gothams. In 1890, his rookie year, he hit .307 with 5 home runs and 53 RBI. Griffin played for the New York Gothams, Rochester Hop Bitters, Washington Senators and St. Louis Perfectos over the course of his 4 year career.

Most people believe that Sandy Griffin's best season was 1890, when he hit for a .307 average and knocked in 53 runs.
