Sam Silas (Samuel Louis Silas) was born on September 25, 1940 in Homeland, Florida. After going to high school at Union Academy (Bartow, FL), Silas attended Southern Illinois University. Silas made his professional debut in the NFL in 1963 with the St. Louis Cardinals. He played for the St. Louis Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants over the course of his 8 year career.

Most people believe that 1967 was Sam Silas's best year.
