[edit] Biography
Briscoe is in his third season in the IndyCar Series. He started his professional career in 2001 in Italy, where he won a Formula Renault Championship. He ran Formula 3 and Formula 3000 in 2002, and became a test driver for Toyota.
In 2005, Briscoe was hired to drive for Chip Ganassi Racing in IndyCars. He struggled, with only three top 10 finishes. At Chicagoland Speedway, he suffered a severe crash that left him serious injured and caused him to miss the final two races of the season.
His return to IndyCars came with Dreyer & Reinbold, who ran Briscoe at the series' road courses Watkins Glen and Infineon, along with Nashville and Milwaukee. He also ran the last two races of the Champ Car season, subbing at Surfers Paradise and Mexico City for Cristiano da Matta.
Briscoe signed with Penske Racing for the 2007 season, spending his time racing in the American Le Mans Series. He ran the Indianapolis 500 for Luczo Dragon Racing, run by Jay Penske. The team finished fifth, the best for any one-off entry in the race. He has graduated to Penske's IndyCar ride after Sam Hornish Jr. shifted to NASCAR.
