Born on November 7, 1968 in Alexandria, Louisiana, Russ Springer (Russell Paul Springer) played for the New York Yankees, California Angels, Philadelphia Phillies, Houston Astros, Atlanta Braves, Arizona Diamondbacks and St. Louis Cardinals over the course of his 14 year career. Springer broke into the bigs on April 17, 1992 with the New York Yankees, and put up a 7.20 ERA in 60 innings pitched in 1993, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Russ Springer's best season was 1997, when he posted a 4.23 ERA and struck out 74 batters.
