Russ Oltz (Russell Manning Oltz) was born on March 19, 1899 in Beloit, Wisconsin. After going to high school at Hammond (IN), Oltz attended the University of Illinois. Oltz made his professional debut in the APFA in 1920 with the Hammond Pros. He played in the APFA for 2 years, playing for the Hammond Pros the entire time. Oltz also played in the NFL for 3 years, playing for the Hammond Pros the entire time.
