Russ Derry (Alva Russell Derry) was born on October 7, 1916 in Princeton, Missouri. He made his Major League debut on July 4, 1944 for the New York Yankees. In 1945, his rookie year, he hit .225 with 13 home runs and 45 RBI. Derry played for the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Athletics over the course of his 3 year career.
