Born on May 17, 1878 in St. Mary's, Ontario (Canada), Rube Vickers (Harry Porter Vickers) played for the Cincinnati Reds, Brooklyn Superbas and Philadelphia Athletics over the course of his 5 year career. Vickers broke into the bigs on September 21, 1902 with the Cincinnati Reds, and put up a 3.40 ERA in 50.1 innings pitched in 1907, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Rube Vickers's best season was 1908, when he posted a 2.21 ERA, won 18 games and struck out 156 batters.
